One of the most common problems that people encounter with refrigerator is the noise it creates. Not only it is uncomfortable for your family members but it is also a bug sign that something is wrong with your fridge. As such, when you encounter such problem the first time, it is advisable to do the necessary actions immediately to prevent it from getting worse. But as a non-technical person when it comes to appliances, how do you check it yourself? Fortunately, you don’t have to call for a repair service to check everything. To help you out, here are some tips on how to identify common causes of refrigerator noise.

Find the source of the noise

First and foremost, you have to locate where the noise is coming from. Is it coming from the outside back of the fridge or from the inside of the freezer? Knowing the location or area of the noise will allow you to minimize your options of the parts of the refrigerator that produces the noise.

  • If the noise of the refrigerator comes from the inside freezer, most of the issue comes from the evaporator fan which runs whenever the appliance is actively functioning or cooling. Moreover, if you find out that the noise sounds like groaning, squealing or chirping, it might be attributed to the fan motor. To figure this out, you must open the door of the freezer and howld down the fan switch or light if there’s any. Consequently, if sound gets louder with the door open, then there is a high tendency that the cause of the noise comes from the fan.

However, there is no other way that you could fix a motor fan, hence, you must replace it. Thus, it is ideal to know how much it costs to repair a refrigerator and compare it with the overall price of replacing it with a brand new one.
